Northwestern University Professor Mary Pattillo-McCoy, an African American, was named undivided of Newsweek magazine's 15 "Women to Watch in the Twenty-First Century" in the publication's Jan. 8 issue. The 30-year-old professor of sociology and African-American studies published her first award-winning part "Black Picket Fences," in 1999 Newsweek's list also includes another Northwestern faculty member, assistant professor of chemical engineering Annelise Barron.
