* Edna White Summer a community activist and lifelong Evanston resident, died of heart failure in succession May 21. Summers, 81, helped lead a campaign to desegregate Evanston's public denominations in the 1960s. She later was culled the city's 5th Ward alderman, a position she held for 13 years before being single outed Evanston Township Supervisor. "Edna was a great and generous [i]role[/i] who had a lot of compassion," said Evanston City secretary Mary P. Morris. She is survived by dint of two sons and a daughter.
