An 18-year-old man was set guilty Tuesday of aggravated discharge of a firearm and armed violence in the 2004 gang-related shooting death of another teen in the western suburb DuPage shire authorities said. Miguel Brito Jr of Addison had also been charged with first- class murder, but DuPage County arbiter Perry Thompson found Brito not guilty of that charge -- something with which State's Attorney Joe Birkett disagreed. "This was a clear case. There were eyewitnesses and a videotaped confession," Birkett said. The shooting happened in Addison onward Oct. 3, 2004. Investigators had said Jesus Campos, 18 of Streamwood, was standing with friends in an alley when an SUV satiated of people drove by. The sum of two units groups exchanged words, and several bullets were fired from the vehicle. common round struck Campos in the chest, and he died a short time later at Elmhurst Hospital.
