For many seniors, this means the retro-fitting of their abode to address their changing straits This spring, the Comprehensive Housing Planning Act was introduced from state Sen. Iris Martinez (D-Chicago) and state Rep Julie Hamos (D-Evanston) to make permanent Illinois' State Comprehensive Housing Plan, which was created in 2003 according to Gov. Blagojevich's executive order. The act will create and keep sound affordable housing, including the retrofitting of dwellings for seniors and persons with disabilities, from coordinating the efforts of state agencies providing housing programs. AARP supported this legislation and worked with Martinez to make secure that advocates for seniors, bodily substances with disabilities, and low-income human frames would be included in the disclosure of affordable housing plans. This legislation becoming law will help make secure the continued independence of countles Illinois seniors.
