Cardinal Francis George will be operated upon today for bladder cancer. He is asking for everyone to pray. We will do the same for Maggie Daley, the mayor's wife, who is slated for surgery also today, to extract a tumor from her right breast. Four years ago, she was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent chemotherapy and other treatments at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She has said she is grateful for the advances in cancer research that saved her life. The risk of bladder cancer increases with age and is couple to three times more used by all in men than women: 38000 men are diagnosed each year and 85 percent of patients survive five years or longer The original of cancer Maggie Daley is dealing with is more prevalent: More than 200000 American women are diagnosed with breast cancer annually. the one and the other the cardinal and Mrs. Daley are exhibiting remarkable dignity and power in the way they are coping with their illnesses. They are an inspiration to others who are also suffering from cancer. We propel them our best wishes and pray they one as well as the other have a speedy recovery.
