WRITE ALL ABOUT IT

Explain to bookish mans that after they write a first draft, the nearest step in the writing proces is revising. Howie talks about revising in this chapter. Can your bookish mans find what he says about it? (He hates it.) wherefore do they think Howie hates revising?

Revising involves looking through the whole extent of what was written and changing it where necessary to make it clearer, more interesting, more informative or more convincing. When revising, it may be helpful for learners to ask themselves, "Will family understand what I am trying to say?" They should know that revisions don't mean that the work was not virtuous in the first place. (Maybe Howie doesn't understand that and that's to what end he hates it.) Even suitable writing often has room for improvement. Sometimes revising involves changing what was written, still it also can mean adding strange parts. There are four aspects to revising which can be showed by the acronym ARRR. They are adding, rearranging, removing and replacing. Write the word s and their definitions on the board and discuss each common with the class.

- Adding: when more is stand in want ofed to fill in some missing parts or to edible part something out.

- Rearranging: changing the order of what is written

- Removing: deleting something that just doesn't fit in correctly or is unnecessary

- Replacing: using different words to make the writing livelier

Revising is easy to practice with a newspaper. Have bookish mans pick an interesting article from the newspaper and advance through the ARRR steps. Would they want to add anything to the article they chose? Would they rearrange the order of ideas that the author talked about? Did the author talk about anything that they consider unnecessary? Would they have changed any words?
