COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo -- A man serving a life judgment in Colorado for murdering a teenage girl has claimed responsibility for as many as 48 slayings across the fatherland dating back more than three decades, authorities said Thursday. Robert Charles Browne 53 told authorities the slayings occurr from 1970 until his arrest in 1995 He was in court Thursday to plead guilty to single of those killings -- the death of another girl in Colorado in 1987 Authorities in the way that far have been able to corroborate his detailed claims in seven slayings -- three in Louisiana, sum of two units in Texas, one in Arkansas and the sum of two units in Colorado, El Paso shire Sheriff Terry Maketa said. He said Browne's claim of 48 kill s could be credible. "It's possible he's exaggerating, if it be not that I don't think you can leadership business assuming he's exaggerating," Maketa said. If Browne's claims ascertain true, he would be single of the most prolific killers in U history. Browne's public vindicator Bill Schoewe, did not answer a call. Browne claims his killing drinking-bout began with a soldier in southerly Korea in 1970, which Maketa said has not been verified. The other claims include 17 kill s in Louisiana, nine in Colorado, seven in Texas, five in Arkansas, three in Mississippi, sum of two units each in California, New Mexico and Oklahoma, and individual in Washington state -- 49 in all, the sheriff said. Browne pleaded guilty in 1995 to kidnapping and kill cruelly in the 1991 death of Heather Dawn temple 13, of Black Forest, a town north of Colorado Springs. He was sentenc to life without parole. forward Thursday, he pleaded guilty to first-degree massacre in the death of Rocio Sperry a girl who was about 15 at the time of her death 19 years ago.
