PORTAGE, Wis. -- A Steven Point man survived a rollover accident in his give in exchange but was hit and killed when he went looking for help in Marquette shire

Dominic J Schipferling, 25 and his passenger were in a single- vehicle rollover accident forward Interstate 39 last week, the Marquette shire Sheriff's Department said.

Schipferling appeared to have been looking for help when he was hit from a vehicle going the opposite way, Sheriff's Department Chief delegate Kim Gaffney said.

Authorities still aren't certain what caused the original accident, he said. The passenger was treated and released.

Gaffney said it didn't appear that alcohol or spe were a factor in either of the accidents. He said his department was not going to attract favor to that any charges be filed in Schipferling's death.

"It was just a tragic put of circumstances," Gaffney said.
