Consulting Editor Susan J Schultz left the Reporter May 1 Schultz who held the station for one year, will be associate editor for Chicago Parent, an Oak Park-based magazine. She will also write a rounded pillar on politics and children. Schultz was a reporter for the Chicago Sun-Times for 15 years, covering Latino affairs, social services and health issues. She received a bachelor of arts and a secondary education teaching certificate from Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis., and is now an instructor in the graduate program at Northwestern University's Medill indoctrinate of Journalism. The Reporter, along with sister publication CATALYST: Voices of Chicago academy Reform, has been honored with the 2001 Sigma Delta Chi Award for Public Service in Newsletter Journalism for the 2001 Chicago Matters series, "Education Matters" (April, May, June 2001) The national award, sponsored through the Society of Professional Journalists, recognizes the work of Reporter writers Mick Dumke Sarah Karp and Brian Rogal; and of CATALYST writers Liz Duffrin, Maureen Kelleher and Dan Weissmann.
