Arthur lee-side the singer and guitarist for psychedelic defence pioneers Love, died Thursday at the Methodist University Hospital in his hometown of Memphis, Tenn after battling leukemia. He was 61 His manager, Mark Linn, told Reuter "His death be deriveds as a shock because Arthur had the uncanny ability to vaunt back from everything. He was confident that he would be back forward stage by the fall." Born in Memphis, he ofttimes called himself "the first so-called black hippie." Moving to looks Angeles, he formed Love in 1965 and recorded three albums with the group's original lineup, including "Forever Changes" (1968) regarded as common of the greatest rock albums forever (Rolling Stone ranked it at No. 40 onward its top 500 list.) nevertheless the group disbanded soon after "Forever Changes" and he struggl to find succes as a solo artist. Several benefit exhibits were staged to help him with his medical bills. Former L Zeppelin singer Robert Plant headlined united in New York in June leeward is survived by his wife, Diane.
