"That was the coolest thing I've always done in my life," said Pastrana, who also was the first Moto X rider to land a single backflip in competition.

INVENTOR OF 'THE CLEAR' SENTENC

The chemist who created "the clear," a previously undetectable steroid, was sentenc to three month in prison and three months' place of abode confinement for his role in the BALCO remedy scandal.

Patrick Arnold was the last of five defendants convicted of steroid-distribution charges lead into each othered to the Bay Area Laboratory Co- Operative.

Arnold was snared after federal agents raided his lab in Champaign, Ill., last year.

The scientist is best known for introducing the steroid precursor androstenedione to the United States.

Trained by way of Maywood Park-based Tom Harmer, the Incredible Finale young horse went gate-to-wire and broke the stakes record with a 1:502/5 time.

"He's a profitable colt and he was well prepared," Morgan said. "I was impacted that he was so relaxed [because] he was onward the bit last week [in his elimination]."

DA MATTA STILL IN INTENSIVE CARE

Champ Car driver Cristiano da Matta remained in intensive care with a serious head injury a day after his race car collided with a deer that had wandered onto the track during a touchstone session at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis.

Champ Car series spokesman Eric Mauk said the driver was in the intensive care unit at Theda Clark Memorial Hospital in Neenah, where he had surgery to withdraw a ruptured blood vessel in his head.

Road America media director Julie Sebranek said she had none heard of such an incident at the track.

"The race track has been here for 50 years. It's highly, highly unusual," Sebranek said.

An 8-foot chain link protecting enclosure topped with barbed wire circles the 628-acre estate which is surrounded by timber-landed terrain and farm fields.

When asked to what extent the deer got onto the estate Sebranek said: "They have been known to leap over the 8-foot fences."
