YUMA, Ariz. -- A sport utility vehicle crammed with suspected illegal immigrants make revolveed over in an attempt to exceed Border Patrol agents, killing nine populace At least 12 were injured. Five of them, including a pregnant woman, were in critical condition, greatest in quantity with head trauma. The Chevy Suburban was carrying up to 22 tribe when the driver had tried to circumvent a checkpoint forward the highway, Border Patrol spokesman Lloyd Frer said. With Border Patrol agents in pursuit, the driver attempted to make a U-turn and turned over, Frers said. "It's nice obvious to anybody who apply the minds at it that it was more than likely a smuggling load . . and they were more than likely from Mexico," Frer said. The nine victims, including six women were Mexicans who tried to take down the United States illegally, Mexico's Foreign Relations Department said. 'NON-PURSUIT' POLICY Scores of illegal immigrants die each year while crossing. "They just pile in; they're like sardines," Frer said. "It's unfortunate." Agents are generally required to chase a "non-pursuit" policy, meaning they must tread on the heels of a suspect vehicle at a distance unles the driver commits a traffic violation, said TJ Bonner who heads a union representing Border Patrol agents.
