LOUISVILLE, Ky -- Mick Jagger will stretching-piece his stuff at the domicile of the Kentucky Derby. "It's an opportunity we have to bring a legendary defence group to a legendary venue" Churchill Downs president Steve Sexton said Monday in announcing that the Rolling Stones will perform at the famed track. Seating for the clan 29 concert -- in the grandstand, in the clubhouse and upon the track -- will accommodate 50000 spectators. A special conceal will be placed over the dirt and sod to protect the racing surfaces. The plan will take place a month before the start of Churchill Downs' fall proper but the track will have to make brief adjustments that will affect horsemen and simulcast wagerers. Sexton said that the track will be clos for horse training for a day or brace and that simulcast operations will put in motion to another facility. "They understand this is an opportunity to present Churchill Downs in the national spotlight again," Sexton said. "It does bring persons to the racetrack who may typically not come" Copyright CHICAGO SUN-TIMES 2006 Provided on ProQuest Information and Learning Company. All rights Reserved
