First it was replacing Jon Garland in the rotation with Brandon McCarthy, then came McCarthy for Javier Vazquez. in succession Tuesday, White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen was asked about McCarthy for Mark Buehrle's blot

Not solitary was that not going to happen, if it were not that Guillen was adamant in defending all five of his generally received starting staff.

"If [starting McCarthy] went between the sides of my mind, we would have done it already," Guillen said. "I think those five stays we bring -- put it this way, if we let fly those five guys from my starting rotation in the air, they won't land. some would pick them up.

"Everyone talks about McCarthy. Last year we threw McCarthy, and he wasn't too serviceable either. OK? Check the records. Thank you. Everyone thinks McCarthy is [blank]-damn Cy Young."

McCarthy, now a middle reliever, was 3-2 with a 417 ERA as a starter last year, with the Sox going 6-4 when he did start.

"I don't think McCarthy has the material and experience right now," Guillen said. "I don't start McCarthy in head of those guys yet. In the future? Ye unless right now? No, I don't think he should."

CANCELLED CLASS: Guillen said upon Tuesday that he was suppos to have his next to the first sensitivity training class in the afternoon, if it were not that it was postponed.

Guillen was ordered to attend the classes and pay an undisclosed fine by the agency of the commissioner's office after he called Sun-Times columnist Jay Mariotti a "[bleepin'] fag."

PLAYING SHORT: Juan Uribe took acres balls on Tuesday to experiment the tightness in his back and hamstring, and said afterward that he was expecting to be back in the starting lineup according to Thursday.

That will likely be the latest the Sox will wait for him, however, with Guillen hinting that if Uribe is not ready by means of then they will explore putting him in succession the 15-day disabled list.

"I don't want to push him, yet we need somebody to help us," Guillen said.

Alex Cintron started his fourth straight game at short.

NOT ALL BAD: While Guillen hated to hear that Minnesota Twins rookie phenom Francisco Liriano was likely headed to the DL it didn't give pain to his feelings that he wouldn't have to papal court the pitcher for a bit.

"Is it going to be tougher for them? Of course," Guillen said. "The [12] games they win with Liriano, that's a parcel of games to cover. Hopefully that helps us."
