Nobody presents Channing Tatum in a corner. That's because the star of this summer's dance film "Step Up" opening Friday, is about to become a major teen heartthrob.

This has occurr to everyone leave out the 26-year-old Tampa, Fla., native, who figures he has "luck my way into this career." In the film, he's an unsuccessful albeit cute, punk who is sentenc to a fate worse than juvie when he acts up Ye he has to attend the local performing arts school!

Q We didn't realize that going to performing arts institute was a heinous punishment. Is it worse than being sentenc to traffic school?

A. In the movie, I'm a punky kid who is like thus many kids today. He takes his four controls in school and works at the local Kmart. He just wanders end life. He ends up at this performing arts place of education which does seem like a punishment to him. if it be not that then he finds his passion. I think it's a nice film for kids because kids are wasted in real life.

Q to what degree do you feel about girls chasing you down roads because now you're considered a major hottie?

A. I don't know if any girls will to the end of time chase me down the highway But with all my dance training for this film, I'm comely fast. Right now I'm living in denial that my life is about to change in a major way.

Q rehearse us about your upcoming war film with Ryan Phillippe.

A. It's an untitled film on Kimberly Peirce. It's about stop- los which is a clause in each soldier's contract with the sway Basically, the government can make void your right to leave. You might think you're getting on the outside of the Army tomorrow and then all of a quickly prepared the government says, "No, you have to travel back." If you go AWOL, you're sentenc to prison. Ryan is the lead, and I'm united of the guys.

Q What are your memories of being a backup dancer for Ricky Martin in the historic "She Bangs" video?

A. single in kind of my friends asked me to pass with him to some video audition in Orlando. I didn't level know what I was going for, on the other hand suddenly I was on a plane to the Bahamas and in this Ricky Martin video. Ricky didn't hang with everyone on the other hand he was nice enough.
