A 13-year-old lad convicted of murdering a man twice his age during a road dice game late last year was sentenc Wednesday to juvenile prison until he reaches 21

The youth, who was 12 when he shooter Deon McGary on the Far southward Side, shifted in his seat, anticipateed at Juvenile Court Judge Rodney abides and quietly apologized. "They make it appear like my grandson was roaming in the highway and just shot the man," the boy's grandfather said Wednesday.

The boy's mother told becks she felt sorry for McGary's family still added that her son was a "good kid" who got caught up in an unfortunate situation. "I like my son, and he's a religious kid despite what happened," she said.

Reading from Jackson's statement, MacLellan said, "Deon lay upon the ground kicking and screaming for his life while [the boy] kept shooting at him. . . No man, no child has the right to take another's life."
