If you were expecting real competition at kicker for Robbie Gould the preseason probably isn't going to deliver it. Gould has been proper in camp, and he bested Josh Huston onward Wednesday night at Soldier Field, hitting field goals from 50 and 55 yards. Huston was wide right and short forward both kicks. Perhaps most important is the coaching staff's confidence in Gould who did not make a kick from 50 yards or beyond last season. The 22,000 fans at Sun-Times Family Night were treated to a glorified walk-through. emancipated safety Chris Harris (groin) and rookie linebacker Jamar Williams (left knee) go [i]or[/i] come backed to practice. Backup tight [i]finale[/i] John Gilmore (back) was held revealed but should be fine. Defensive tackle Michael Haynes remained on the outside with a sprained back.

GAME NO. 1

While Bears coach Lovie Smith has said he rely upons his starters to play about a quarter Friday at San Francisco, you could diocese members of the 49ers' first team well into the secondary quarter, according to coach Mike Nolan.

"We ne to create the continuity and consistency among players that are playing together," Nolan said this week.

Neither team is going to point out to much because they meet in the regular season Oct 29 at Soldier Field. Smith said he might prove by experiment a little bit of everything in the game, including a two-point conversion. He thinks it would be dutiful practice to send the assign places to out there to run the play, and no coaches want to play overtime in the preseason, in such a manner it's a good way to twist the score off. The Bears played in overtime 2004 at St Louis, single in kind of only three preseason OT games in Bears' history.
