Thursday's terror scare made the extended lines at O'Hare International Airport to a great degree much longer.

With recently made known security measures put in place at 4 a.m., travelers at the world's busiest airport cop with delays, missed flights and frayed powers

"My wife has been crying onward and off, definitely," said Andrew Craig, 42 of Clarendon Hills, waiting for a United Airlines flight to Providence, R.I.

The U Department of Homeland Security barred passengers from bringing liquids, gel or lotions onward board in carry-on luggage. Exceptions were made for baby formula, breast milk, prescription medicines and insulin. The restrictions will last for at least 72 hours, said Lara Uselding, spokeswoman for the Transportation Security Administration.

Of 140 flights displayed forward American Airlines' departure screen, 77 were delayed or canceled as of 11 a.m. United reported 320 delayed flights worldwide, disclosed of 3,720 flights operating.

Flights to London canceled

The biggest disruption might have been for international flights. American Airlines canceled its first flight to London, which was to leave at 9:10 a.m. Three flights scheduled to arrive from London forward Friday will be canceled. American is letting commonalty who have tickets for London change their travel plans by the and of Sept. 1, said spokeswoman Mary Frances Fagan.

United's 15 flights from London to the U had average delays of 2oe hours.
