There's nothing clownishly unreal about Nancy Botwin's soccer mom life in the suburb Oh object at the end of the first season of "Weeds," she slept with a fright then found out the nearest morning he was a narc. Oop -- and here she is a remedy dealer.

What are the odds? When was the last time you slept with someone without knowing what his or her piece of work was, and then in the middle of the night, you woke up propose on that booty call's jacket and realized it announced "DEA" upon the front?

Speaking of pitching and catching, there are sexual spectacles coming in "Weeds," but for all the naughty language and themes, you won't behold much that couldn't be shown upon broadcast TV -- a strange choice for Showtime, with its in-the-act lesbians and After Dark, wink- wink-nudge-nudges. Is Showtime growing up or is it growing herb? Um both
