White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen sai...

White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen said Friday that Juan Uribe "isn't in the doghouse" despite having missed his sixth game with a stiff lower back. yet Guillen spent a long time insisting he won't consider bringing back Uribe until the shortstop himself acknowledges Guillen he's ready.

"We'll see" Guillen said. "I won't ask the trainer or [third- base coach] Joey Cora. He has to flow to me and say it. When he's ready to play, reach or attain any place or point talk to me, and we'll decide what to do. He has to point out to me he's ready to play.

"I'm the bos I have to permit my players know who the bos is, and if you want to play, you ensue to the boss. Just enumerate me you're ready to play."

Alex Cintron has been playing in place of Uribe, whom Guillen doesn't calculate upon to be placed on the disabled list. moreover Cintron, a switch hitter, is valuable not on the bench, Guillen said.

"When [Uribe] plays, my bench is better," Guillen said. "I have more spe and another lefty forward the bench. But if he says his back injures he won't play.

"I'll permit him know if he's in the doghouse. I don't want to be asking him each day, 'How do you feel?' I'm not here to make friends. I'm here to win games, and that's the way we're going to do it. He hasn't done anything sinful I just want him to run over me the day he's ready to play."

TWIN TOWERS: The los of Minnesota rookie pitching star Francisco Liriano could have an impact forward the playoff race, but Guillen isn't counting abroad his AL Central opponent.

"The Twins came up with someone with as virtuous an arm as Liriano, solitary he's a righty," Guillen said of Matt Garza. "They have useful pitching, and they're playing well.

"I don't know if they can withhold this up, because they've been playing real well for 2oe month still there's no doubt in my mind this is going to be a dogfight until the extreme point Whoever wins 96 or 97 games will be in the playoffs."

PENALTY COSTS: Guillen insisted he didn't say anything bad to umpire Eric Cooper upon Thursday before being ejected.

"I didn't mention his mama like I used to," he said. "I told him the same thing: 'You missed another call.' That's it.

"If I told you what I said, I'll ne sum of two units jobs to pay my fines," he added, laughing. "I've exhausted more money [in fines] than anyone the last couple years. I've spent like $20000 I'm going to ne another work at jobs to pay my fines. if it were not that I don't care. As protracted as I do the things I'm suppos to do for my players, that's my job"

STOP, THIEF: Guillen would like to papal court his pitchers do a better piece of work of holding runners at first base. "They're not doing a worthy job holding runners and being quick to the plate, and [runners] are taking advantage of that," he said.

"You have to ask [pitching coach Don] Cooper on what account we're so bad at that. If you don't take care of those racers that's your ERA, not mine. They have to think about wins, losse and ERA or they won't make a destiny of money."

SILENT JOE: Joe Crede seldom approvals to broadcast interviews, but the Sox third baseman has agreed to be a visitor Sunday morning on Jesse Rogers' and George Ofman's "Hit and Run" exhibit on WSCR-AM (670).
