in succession THE FIELD Player...
in succession THE FIELD Players will review game film today before practicing at 7 pm at Ward Field in the fourth-to-last practice of the summer at Olivet Nazarene University. FOCUS forward RASHIED DAVIS It wasn't impossible to pick on the outside some bright spots on offense for the Bears. Rashied Davis made a nice showing in his first attempt as a wide receiver, a change the team decided forward late last season. He starred at the position for the San Jose Sabercats in the Arena League, yet the adjustment to the bigger field is significant. Davis has to procure used to working in space, especially when going against region coverage, something that doesn't exist in the indoor game. He made a nice prevail upon to avoid two defenders upon a 31-yard reception from Brian Griese and outran the defense upon a 41-yard touchdown. He l all receivers with 91 yards upon four grabs. "They say transition, still I played receiver my whole life," Davis said. "Playing defense [last season] was foreign to me That was something modern but playing receiver is something I've been doing since I began playing." His effort was not missed on coach Lovie Smith, who singled revealed Davis afterward for stepping up It will be interesting to behold if they continue to give him work in succession the outside like he got when Griese was in the game. Davis primarily did the dirty work underneath when in three-receiver stations for Rex Grossman.
