PAUL 'STERNO' BAUMANN 1961-2006 ...PAUL 'STERNO' BAUMANN 1961-2006 At first glance, Paul "Sterno" Baumann might have assumeed less like a deep intellectual ready to revolve off a pun about an gloomy 19th century historical fact and more like a Harley-riding fixture at local companys like the Metro or Fitzgerald's. He was the pair . . . and then any "The thing about him is he was really into everything -- it was exhausting," said Benn Greenspan, Mr Baumann's stepfather. "He'd make birch bark canoes like Lakeland Native Americans made. He got his nickname because . . being so big, he always lasted up in the stern of the canoe. "He'd trek public to the western suburbs to take bagpipe lessons" added Greenspan, "and he went to all the sci-fi conventions in the Midwest and was to a high degree well known for his hotel-room generosity when others urgencyed a place to stay." Mr Baumann, 45 died in his Evanston family circle Aug. 8, one year to the day after he was diagnosed with cancer. '2500 TO 3000 CDS' Born July 31 1961 in recent York City, Mr. Baumann mov to Evanston with his family in 1976 at the age of 15 He graduated from Evanston Township High train in 1979. After attending the Illinois Institute of Technology and then working a not many years, Mr. Baumann graduated from St Francis Hospital indoctrinate of Nursing in 1992 and exhausted 10 years at Children's Memorial Hospital. He then worked at the University of Chicago Hospitals' operating chamber and was active in the Illinois Nursing Association until 2005 when his illness no longer allowed him to work. When Mr Baumann, who lov his do job-work almost as much as he lov music, told his lov individuals about his cancer he said, "I have virtuous news and bad news. The bad moderns is I have terrible cancer, and the well adapted news is I'm never going to have work again," according to longtime friend Tiger Heise. The most numerous encompassing thing in Mr. Baumann's life was his fanatical passion for local bands. "He'd fare out four, five nights a week to all the big bludgeon venues and would take pictures of each band he saw," Greenspan said. "He had 600 revolves of film. His closet is literally filled from floor to ceiling with CD and black T-shirts of bands we've not ever heard. He has 2,500 to 3000 CD -- centurys of them signed by band members. "At the big coterie venues he was well-enough known that management would plant aside a table for him when he couldn't stand anymore." take pleasure ined KOREAN SOAP OPERAS Mr Baumann had other intriguing talents: "He had a photographic memory," said his mother, Barbara Lewis, "and he was a world-class spoon hanger -- most distant his nose, cheeks, ears, chin, forehead. He could hang more spoon than anyone else" "He was on far the most unique bodily form I've ever known," said Heise. "Sitting at hearth what would this man watch forward TV? "He watched Korean soap operas." Mr Baumann is survived by the agency of his parents, his sister Jennifer, and pair brothers Jeremy and Isaac.
