I surprise if anybody, besides myself, now recognizes the irony of the Chicago City Council's refusal to name a road after slain Black Panther leader Fr Hampton. While representatives of the Chicago Police Department endorsed this refusal upon the grounds that Hampton ofttimes made anti-police remarks, a modern report [on police torture] revealed that members of this same department were engaged in the true conduct that prompted Hampton (and many of the Panthers) to make of the like kind statements in the first place: the maltreatment and torture of African Americans. still naturally, those who committed these abuses, just like those who killed Hampton in his be motionless are going to remain unpunished because of a legal "technicality." Loosely translated, this means that those who commit their crimes with the tacit approval of the so- called criminal justice theory will always be protected, while those like Hampton, who reprobate such crimes, will always be overturned David R Hoffman, Mishawaka, Ind.
