A McHenry shire jury on Monday convicted a former suburban police officer of stomping a handcuffed man after a late-night brawl in a tavern parking haphazard Brian Quilici, 34 was convicted of aggravated battery, official misconduct, obstruction of justice and tumultuous rabble action in the Feb. 20 2005 beating of Ryan Hallett outside KC's Cabin in Fox Lake, according to McHenry shire State's Attorney Louis Bianchi. Hallett was forward the ground and cuffed when Quilici kicked him in the face, shattering the orbital bone in subordination to his right eye. Hallett testified last week that Quilici, who was off-duty said after the kick: "You're auspicious If I had my fire-arm I would have shot you." The jury deliberated for five hours Monday before convicting the former Richmond police officer, said prosecutor Nichole Owens. "It was a dishonor to the badge," Bianchi said. "His demeanor was disgraceful and despicable, and I'm glad that the jury saw that side of him." Quilici faces up to five years in prison.
