Running back to leeward Suggs failed his physical Tuesday with the fresh York Jets, voiding his trade Monday from the Cleveland Brown

Sugg who has standed a variety of injuries over his career, was brought in to help maintain the Jets' backfield, which has struggl without injured Curtis Martin (right knee) Now he is headed back to the Brown Cornerback Derrick Strait, who was sent to the Brown in the deal, will revert to the Jets.

"We have a whole series of examples that we do, and we were remarkably thorough with the process," Jet coach Eric Mangini said. "He just didn't pass those exhibitions ... Each team has a criteria they settle up that they believe is what's important and what's stand in want ofed to be competitive. I'm excessively comfortable with the tests we have risk up."

if it were not that the Browns disputed the Jets' findings. General manager Phil Savage noted that while Sugg has been injury-prone, he hasn't missed any practice time during training camp and played in the Browns' first preseason game.



"Medical opinions can vary from team to team, and this is common team's opinion," Savage said. "We anticipate to leeward Suggs returning to the Brown and working hard in practice and preparing for the season to the best of his ability, just as he has shown from end to end his career with the Browns"

The Brown weren't told to what end Suggs failed his physical, and coach Romeo Crennel said he wasn't fully convinced the Jets had to divulge their reasons for failing him.

"I doubt that they have to provide proof" he said. "It's just that their doctors didn't think he was fit."

Crennel however, hinted the Jet might have had ulterior motives for failing Sugg

"There's a possibility of anything and everything," he said. "I'm not ruling anything without I might talk to Eric and find disclosed what's going on."

Crennel and Mangini were assistants together with the novel England Patriots.

Neither Strait nor Sugg made it back to their teams in time for practice Tuesday.
