Maybe I am naive, further the article "Rapists met victim online: prosecutors [new story, Aug. 15]" makes me astonishment why no one says anything about the parents of the underage children in these cases. Are the parents monitoring what sites their children access across the Internet? What really disturbs me is this: for what purpose is a 14-year-old going to a place by way of herself without possibly knowing who these frights were and also without knowing that there are persons who use this site for sexual purposes? for what purpose aren't parents discussing this with their children? They too play an important part When we were growing up we were taught "Don't talk to strangers." Maybe now it should be "Don't confront strangers." As I read [the sidebar] "Dark side of MySpace: sexual predators," one time again I asked myself wherefore aren't the parents getting involved before undivided of their children may become the victim of a sexual crime. Having law enforcement perplex as bait can only do in this way much. Keith Richardson, Near North Side Copyright CHICAGO SUN-TIMES 2006 Provided at ProQuest Information and Learning Company.
