Qualcomm Inc. shares rose $238 or 7 percent to terminate Wednesday at $37.83, their biggest-one day gain since Nov. 3 2005 The gain came after Merrill Lynch added the world's second-largest maker of mobile-phone chips to its "Focus 1 List," and said Qualcomm's profit might increase 26 percent each year end 2008 "driven mainly by deployment of 3G networks."
