Heads up numbers lovers. The largest group of author of poemss in the Windy City will be gathering at the 2006 Chicago verse Fest on Aug. 26- 27 at the Hyatt rule Chicago and Giddings Plaza in Lincoln Square. The "Chicago verse Showcase: A Celebration of the First Amendment" will bring together more than 50 author of poemss both experienced and newcomers, for a bonanza of readings. "This year's theme is a celebration of the first amendment, likewise who knows what we're in for," said festival organizer and local bard, CJ Laity. "We'll have a dutiful selection of seasoned crowd pleasers, of that kind as Larry O. Dean and Cathleen Schandelmeier [from Chicago], and Rusty Russell from Wisconsin," said Laity, who commandeers the local verse Web site, ChicagoPoetry.com. "On Sunday, we'll introduce a hazard of new poets who have not at all performed before," said Laity. Saturday's issue runs from 1 to 4 pm at the Hyatt government Chicago, 151 E. Wacker, in conjunction with the 2006 Society of Professional Journalists Convention & National Journalism talk Sunday's readings, from 2 to 8 pm will be held at Giddings Plaza, 4731 N Lincoln. Chicago-based bard musician and recording artist JJ Tindall says the festival is a must-attend for rhyme afficionados, not only because it's the biggest incident of the year, but because "you can memorize at one location a cross-section of the best work in the city."
