Tank Johnson beat the original prognosis for his torn left quad muscle by the agency of a long ways. Expected to begin the season in succession the non- football injury list, Johnson was promot to the active roster Monday and is onward target to be ready for the season opener family 10 at Green Bay. Johnson tore the quad in March and following surgery it was said he could miss as many as six month which would have meant missing the first six weeks of the regular season, at the minimum.

His revert bolsters an area that has been struck by way of injury with Ian Scott (left knee) Michael Haynes (back) and Dusty Dvoracek (right foot) still gone out

Johnson was look fored to push Scott for the starting do job-work at nose tackle, but now he figures to start the year in the part he played last season, as a nickel pass rusher. Johnson had five sacks last season, including couple in the victory over Baltimore, when he l the line with eight tackles. He doesn't think the lengthy layoff will effect him too long

"The defense is easy," he said. "Where you journey on any given play is united or two steps. It's not going to be that big of a deal in look up to to being sharp.

"Fortunately, I was able to detain my weight [300 pounds] down and didn't gain a portion I am really happy about that."

Johnson could play Friday v Arizona, if it be not that the club might hold him gone out until the preseason finale Aug. 31 at Cleveland.

ROSTERING: Linebacker Joe Odom, a sixth-round pick in 2003 was placed forward waivers. Odom had eight career starts, making 49 tackles, however played only two games last season before going upon injured reserve with a sprained ankle.

Backup linebacker Leon Joe had a solid game Friday against San Diego and is figured to be the fourth linebacker at this point. The Bears will continue Brendon Ayanbadejo because of his value in succession special teams and that leaves perhaps the same more roster spot. The team has its greatest investment in fourth-round pick Jamar Williams, and the currency trail is smart to tread on the heels of when assessing the approaching cutdown date.

Defensive conclusion Khari Long was placed upon injured reserve with a shoulder injury. Added were linebacker Mike Mendenhall of fane who was brought in for a tryout during rookie minicamp, and fullback Quadtrine Hill of Miami.

EXTRA POINTS: Cornerback Nathan Vasher remained not at home with his mid- back injury and is not count uponed to play Friday. He was injured in the preseason opener Aug. 11

"It's coming along nevertheless I still won't get gone out there until I am 100 percent" he said. "They just told me to chalk it up as back soreness, thus that's all I can really narrate you guys. More or les I'm taking a precaution. I don't want to gain out there until I am 100 percent and I'm not in any rush to get by heart back."
