Microsoft Corp. is considering discounts or other promotions during the holidays to entice consumer to upgrade their PC with Windows Vista, on the same level though the new operating scheme isn't due to hit store shelves until January at the earliest. Microsoft is running more than sum of two units years late with Vista, the successor to Windows XP The software's delay will cause the PC industry to misspend about $4 billion in receipts this year, according to Gartner Inc. research.

MOTOROLA BOOST LATIN EXPANSION

Motorola Inc. said it is expanding output capacity in its Brazilian plant at 40 percent this year to increase its exports to Latin America. "Brazil is a great place. The economy is growing. All of Latin America is growing and more race want to get connected," said ed Zander, chief executive officer of Schaumburg-based Motorola. The expansion is part of Motorola's plans to concentrate output in more competitive countries after the company bar down facilities in other places around the world, Zander said.

TOWER HAS sum of two units SUITORS

Tower Records has sum of two units bidders vying to buy the 89-store music chain gone out of bankruptcy, and hopes to whole the sale by October, a lawyer for parent company MT Inc. said. MT wants to clinch a court- supervised auction through the end of September, lawyer Mark Collins said Tuesday. He declined to identify the sum of two units bidders. Tower has been trying to vend itself since last emerging from bankruptcy in March 2004 according to court filings. Closely held MT sought protection in bankruptcy court this week, citing competition from online retailers.
