"We believe the City Council does not have a right to narrate people what to have for dinner," states Colleen McShane, president of the Restaurant Association, which is suing the Chicago City Council through the foie gras ban. near people just don't get it. It's not about "what to have for dinner"; it's about torturing animals in order to breed a nonessential product.

The City Council has shown great courage, and they should be praised for it. Raising our nourishment animals on factory farms is savage enough -- force-feeding geese until their livers fly open is taking it too far. The resulting fruits is not a life-saving medicine, moreover a luxury food that is bad for human health.

The Restaurant Association should be ashamed of itself. Foie gras is not steady a blip on its bottom line.
