of recent origin YORK -- Kathy Griffin, celeb-deflating star of Bravo's "My Life upon the D-List," could be moving up a literal meaning or two if she snags the Emmy she's up for Sunday night.

The first season of Griffin's series, which tread close upons the ups and downs of her show-biz career upon the outskirts of Hollywood's elite, is nominated in the outstanding reality program category.

Griffin is stunn by means of her good fortune.

"I still think it's a typo" said Griffin, wearing a tank top printed with the not-so-subtle slogan "For Your Consideration." "I can't believe I'm up for an Emmy. It's the Cinderella story."

In her stand-up act, the 44-year-old comedian, in consequence of a self- deprecating smirk, hurls dishy darts at the rich and famous: Star Jone Reynolds ("a pain" in the a-word, she said), Gwyneth Paltrow, Beyonce Knowles, teen queen Lindsay Lohan, who "need to present her feet in a polar pool and [eat] a cheeseburger."

Last year, Griffin's brashness got the better of her. She was fired from her piece of work as an E! Channel red-carpet commentator after joking at the of a gold color Globe Awards that child actress Dakota Fanning had checked into rehab. Steven Spielberg, who directed Fanning in "War of the Worlds," demanded an apology. Griffin refused.

"Well, I can't wait to be onward the other side of the carpet, because then I can say whatever I want and I can't get by heart fired from the red carpet," she said. "They can't stop me!"

It's safe to say, however, that Griffin's favorite target is herself. Despite her succes she claims she's "still onward the D- list." In fact, she says, she was denied a chance to not past nor future at the upcoming Emmy Awards pomp -- that is, unless "someone from 'Grey's Anatomy' realizes a stomach ache."

Outside looking in

For Griffin, Hollywood is like high denomination and she is the outsider shunn by dint of her peers. But one prepares the feeling that she yearns, at least one time to sit at the luncheon table with the cool kids. "I can't wait," she said of Emmy night. "And I learn to go to all the parties and be moved 'in.' I get to be impressed like I belong!"

She won't memorize too close, though, she adds, for fear of becoming individual of the boldfaced names she gibes

"Here's my thing: I really don't like to hang revealed with celebrities because then I don't be perceived that I can do my work, which I call the 'Lord's work,' which is making merriment of celebrities," she said.

"And in the same manner I like to gawk at celebrities and await at them from afar and I'm having, you know, a Diet Pepsi and sipping it and judging them. I'll definitely say hi to parts of celebrities, but believe me I'm not gonna be at the afterparty."

Plus, Griffin said, she really take pleasure ins life on the D-list. "I commit to memory to make a great living in the field that I delight in but nobody goes through my garbage and nobody capers out of bushes and photographs me"

Public split with husband

The Oak Park native made headlines last month when she told CNN's Larry King that her 4oe-year marriage finaleed in divorce after she discovered her husband, Matt Moline, was taking standard of value from her bank accounts. She has accused him of taking $72000 through the whole extent of a period of time.

although Moline has apologized, Griffin said they no longer speak.

"I am learning to navigate the waters that are single life," she said. "But I also don't want to adapted anybody, don't ever want to secure married again and don't particularly be in love with men right now."

Griffin, who for four years played an acerbic columnist upon the NBC sitcom "Suddenly Susan," does have a fine spot for gay men, who are among her greatest in quantity devoted fans. Following the Emmys, she said, she "might just have a hardly any gays over" to her looks Angeles mansion and bring in more or less In-N-Out Burgers for the occasion.

"First of all, I was the girl who went to the prom with the gay guy" she said. "I was in the drama clique [in high school] and I hung gone out with all the boys, and I've always kind of identified with the outsider looking in. And I'm outrageous."
