Providing a little relief from congestion in succession the Dan Ryan Expy., the Illinois Department of Transportation plans to reopen single in kind express lane in each direction through the whole extent of the next two weeks, officials said Friday.

Weather permitting, a single outbound lane between 31st and 59th ways will reopen to cars upon Monday, weeks ahead of the race 15 target date set by dint of the transportation department.

The strange four-lane configuration on the Dan Ryan will remain in place until December, when IDOT plans to wrap up this year's construction season. Then it's back to normal until the expressway's local lanes are shut up down in March.

IDOT is widening and rebuilding the Dan Ryan as part of a $600 million frame designed to relieve congestion and improve safety.
