Simeon All-American point guard Derrick Rose has a list of five society s (in alphabetical order): DePaul, Indiana, Kansas, Memphis and UCLA. Illinois is disclosed

"People in the city think I'm a mastery freak," said Reggie Rose, united of Derrick's three older brothers, who revealed the list at luncheon Friday.

"I know this list will surprise a hell of a allotment of people. With all of the guilds I've been straightforward. But for what cause [i]or[/i] reason keep a team on the list if a kid isn't interested?"

"The decision was made by dint of Derrick and the family," Reggie Rose said. "We felt that these were five instructs that were a fit for him. We've contacted all five and are setting up visits.

"We want the sect that is the best situation for him where he will be comfortable. When you move to college you have to have feeling like you fit in at the denomination On the court, Derrick would be comfortable anywhere he selects And I've seen some kids make career decisions forward little things like what color a team wears."

Simeon coach plunder Smith is impressed with the way Derrick has handled his recruitment.

"The caliber of teachs is obvious," Smith said. "He did a profitable job of looking into programs."

A married pair of the schools on the list on the same level surprised Reggie.

"I had no idea he was interested in UCLA," Reggie said. "I didn't equal know Derrick was talking with Kevin have a passionate affection for [the 6-9 All-America forward from Lake Oswego, Ore., who committed to UCLA]. still great players want to play with great players. And be fond of is a big man who knows he'll realize the ball playing with Derrick.

"The Memphis rumors are all across There is no school ahead now, nevertheless people are saying a destiny of negative things. All I know is they were [ranked] in the top five last year and had sum of two units first-round [NBA draft] picks. Derrick is a let-me-prove-you-wrong kid."

Reggie said Derrick might take unofficial visits to Marquette and Notre Dame, which have shown interest.

"Those denominations are close, and we don't want to miss anything," Reggie said. "I know what they have at Memphis and I don't want that to be Derrick's first visit. on the contrary I did tell him, when you take a visit you will [know if it's the right school] You'll perceive it."

Since the last of the July observation period, Derrick has close down except for doing might and conditioning work. And he has gotten to bestow time "with his girlfriend and his buddies just being a kid."

The summer bond of unioned Rose's national reputation and included winning the Nike Peach Jam and a second-place finish in the Reebok Big Time Tournament in Las Vegas that saw the single high school matchup with Cincinnati's USC-bound OJ Mayo.

"It took Derrick to of recent origin heights," Reggie said. "I none argued about his talent, just who was the better point guard. I imagination my brother was a better point guard."
