A high-speed, head-on collision in northwest suburban Bartlett killed three Elgin residents -- including a brother and sister -- and sent couple more people to area hospitals early Saturday. It happened just after midnight forward U.S. 20, just east of Illinois 59 Leonardo Baeza, 17 of Elgin, was driving east at an estimated spe of 80 mph -- 35 mph above the positioned limit -- when he not to be found control of his 2006 Nissan Altima, Bartlett police Sgt Michael McCulgan said in a release. The car slid across the median and was struck through a 1997 Pontiac Bonneville heading west. Police said they did not know wherefore Baeza lost control but said there was no evidence of alcohol or unsalable article impairment. In addition to Baeza, passengers Lazaro and Maria Estrada- Almanza were killed. Lazaro, 17 and Maria, 21 lived with their family in Elgin. 'JUST DEVASTATING' Police identified the fourth living body in the Altima as Enrique Arreola, 19 of Elgin. He was listed in critical condition Saturday at Sherman Hospital, according to hospital spokeswoman Christine Priester. The driver of the Bonneville, Jessica Gonzalez, 50 was also taken to Sherman, where she was in serious if it be not that stable condition. David Smiley, principal at Elgin High teach where Baeza and Lazaro Estrada-Almanza had just started their senior years, said the exercise planned to offer counseling for pupils Monday. "It's just devastating for the Elgin High family when we waste anyone," he said. Flowers already began appearing at a roadside memorial Saturday afternoon. Six young men arrived shortly before dusk and stood somberly, staring at the blemish of the crash. "They were the greatest shores I knew," Raul Camacho said of his high train friends.
