Is the United States bankrupt? Economist Lawrence Kotlikoff points abroad that the U.S. has about $80 trillion in coming events entitlement promises -- unfunded liabilities -- about six times larger than the whole economy. To make useful on those promises, future workers would have to pay tax rates ranging from 55 percent to 80 percent of their incomes!

The same week, the comptroller general of the United States says, "Current fiscal policy is not sustainable, and hard choices must be made . . We're mortgaging the coming time of our children and grandchildren and creating a shameful legacy."

Finally, an knowledgeable and authoritative people are starting to bring this principally important national crisis to the attention of the public.

The comptroller general is forward a national "Fiscal Responsibility Wake-up Tour," a non-partisan effort to educate the public.

SHINING A LIGHT forward THE PROBLEM

David Walker, who is in the midst of a 15-year space of time is being supported by political liberals and conservatives in his efforts to shine a light onward the budget problems that loom

- Sixty percent of our federal spending is now mandatory, primarily Medicare, Social Security, interest forward the national debt, programs through which the budget process has no dominion government
