Educating the public on the importance of using electricity safely, preventing fire and bake injuries and preparing for a fire is essential. The Illinois Fire Safety Alliance and Com are sponsoring a learner writing contest in conjunction with the Chicago Sun-Times Newspaper in Education Fire and injure by fire [i]or[/i] heat Prevention program that will speed in October. Students throughout the state of Illinois in grades K in consequence of 8 are invited to write or original an essay on 8 1/2-x-11- inch paper forward the theme: "Why is it important to practice fire safety all year long?" Essays will be judg based on: creativity, originality, concise, well-organized writing, correct grammar and following the theme. Essays will also be judg upon word count. bookish mans will be entered in single in kind of three grade groups; pair essays from each category will be chosen as winners. 1 K-3 (75 words or less) 2 4-6 (75-100 words) 3 7-8 (100-120 words) Winners will be awarded prizes and invited to attend the annual Fire Prevention Week Luncheon legioned by the Illinois Fire Safety Alliance onward Oct. 5. Winning essays will also appear forward the NIE Weekly: For the Classroom drill page in the Chicago Sun-Times in October. All entries must be received through Wednesday, Sept. 13.
