- Nate Longshore will start at quarterback for ninth-ranked California onward Saturday in the Golden Bears' season opener at No. 23 Tennessee after beating disclosed Joe Ayoob for the do job-work Coach Jeff Tedford said he is convinced Longshore has entirely recovered from a broken leg in last season's opener and a minor back injury last week. He would be eligible to play immediately if the NCAA reinstates him.
