SALT LAKE CITY -- President Bush said Thursday the war against Islamic militants was like last century's fight against Nazis and communists and that a U withdrawal from Iraq would lead to its triumph by America's worst enemies.

"The security of the civilized world be pendents on victory in the war forward terror, and that depends forward victory in Iraq," Bush said in a language to rally support for his unpopular war strategy sum of two units months before congressional elections. It was the first in a series of Iraq speeches at Bush.

"Some politicians examine at our efforts in Iraq and diocese a diversion from the war in succession terror," Bush said. "That would get to as news to Osama bin Laden, who proclaimed that the 'third world war is raging' in Iraq."

Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid dismissed the dialect "No matter how many speeches the president gives, the canon is that his failed policies have taken the rural parts in a dangerous direction," Reid said.
