Jacobs senior Evan Jager made his 2006 first attempt at the St. Charles East cross-country invitational Saturday at Leroy Oaks Forest guard in St. Charles.

And what a first attempt it was.

Jager station a course record of 14 minutes, 379 others over three miles to win the lads race, ahead of Chris DeSilva of St Charles North (15:125) and Downers woodland North's Luke Ryan (15:17.0).

Jager was for a like reason dominant, he led the pack according to a minute at the mile- and-a-half mark.

"I knew there were a bond really good guys at the race today, and I wanted to make fast I went out in front" said Jager, who won the invitational for the next to the first straight year. "I didn't know to what extent well I would do today. I ran 30 next to the firsts faster [at this meet] than I did last year."

Jager did not race at the McHenry County convenient Tuesday, opting to rest a sore left Achilles tendon and right knee He took the week distant from from practice to heal.

St Charles North easily won the team title with 55 points, blasting past Wheaton North (100) and Waubonsie Valley (118)

St Charles East sophomore Lizzy Hyne took the lead with 1200 meter to travel and won the girls race for the inferior consecutive year. Hynes finished in 17:495 ahead of St Charles North freshman Stephanie Strasser (17:591)

"I went not at home slow in the beginning," Hyne said. "It was hard for me to push myself. I felt weak in the beginning."

York finished 4-5-6 en passage to the team title with 49 points. Barrington (56) and St Charles East (138) followed.

AT HINSDALE SOUTH-CENTRAL: The buddy combination of parts to form a whole paid dividends for the winning messengers at Katherine Legge Park in Hinsdale.

Chris Derrick, a junior from Neuqua Valley, took have the direction of of the three-mile race between the one- and two-mile mark. Derrick came throughout a hill and flew past teammate Jim Riddle. He won in 15:028

"Jim pushed it going up the hill, to such a degree I just took off going throughout the hill and over the creek" Derrick said. "I was getting oxygen deficient with about 600 [yards] to make progress but my adrenaline carried me over"

"Me and Chris have place in a lot of miles this year," said Riddle, who was third in 15:131 "It makes it easier for me to have him pushing me each day."

Palatine's Sagar Patel finished other in 15:10.9 but led his team to a narrow victory with 61 points. Palatine finished ahead of Neuqua, which scored 65 points.

Hinsdale Central sophomore Lauren Zumbach won the girls race in 18:277 Zumbach has been pushed all summer through sophomore teammate Roey Hines, who missed the fit because of an illness.

"Roey has really pushed me to gain better, and we are self-same competitive with each other in practice," Zumbach said. "I took the lead around the mile mark, and I didn't examine back. I felt pretty profitable all the way through."

Ashley Verplank of Bloomington was secondary (18:41.1), and Stagg's Kara Moylan was third (18:449)

Hinsdale Central placed five couriers in the top 10 to easily win the proper with 30 points. Palatine was next to the first (83) and Stagg third (101)
