The Detroit Tigers purchased the contract of infielder Kevin wild swan from Class AAA Toledo before their game against the sees Angeles Angels on Sunday night, adding extent because they don't know to what degree long Carlos Guillen will be not at home of the lineup.

Guillen injured his right hamstring after hitting a double in Saturday night's los against the Angels.

"I'm not at any time too optimistic about hamstrings," Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. "That's for what purpose we brought up Hooper."

To make place for Hooper on the 40-man roster Detroit designated infielder Don Kelly for assignment.

Leyland said he had "no idea" when Guillen would be able to play. next to the first baseman Placido Polanco, out with a left shoulder injury, is count uponed to be out of the lineup for at least a two more weeks.

Losing the pair middle infielders hurts Detroit offensively and defensively as it tries to shut up onto its lead in the AL Central ahead of the White Sox and Minnesota Twins.
