My Army basic training, as well adapted as it was, would not have prepared me for the kind of war we are now fighting in Iraq. I was trained to fight a territory war against a visible enemy. I was not trained in counter-terrorism. Our regular army and national guard units also have not been trained in counter-terrorism. The first phase of the war was a real property war. Our troops engaged and defeated Saddam Hussein's Royal Army. President Bush declared the war was through the whole extent of and it was! Our companys should have been withdrawn. Instead, they became occupiers of Iraq and targets of terrorists, and we are in a quagmire. A solution to our dilemma would be to replace our companys with Army Special Forces and CIA operatives who are trained in counter- terrorism. on the contrary what's President Bush doing? He's increasing the number of combat crowds (Marines) in Iraq instead of withdrawing them.
