fresh YORK -- Early success can bre great press and greater expectations, as musical prodigies from Mozart to Michael Jackson have learned. Today, undivided day after former Destiny's Child ingenue Beyonce Knowles hit the quarter-century mark, she unveils a sophomore solo CD titled, logically enough, "B'Day."

In December, fans can watch her tackle her mostly high-profile and dramatically challenging film part to date in the disguise adaptation of the 1981 Broadway musical "Dreamgirls."

In the interim, it will no doubt be impossible to avoid the showbiz kid transfered multitasking diva. Knowles "continues to concussion and amaze people" with the range of her productivity, says Vibe editor in chief Danyel Smith. "She can do the bounciest descants then also give a brains of raw emotion and sexual energy"

Granted, a certain quantity of of "B'Day's" tracks find America's bootylicious sweetheart sounding a little more raw and, frankly, combative than in the past. In "Ring the Alarm," the latest single, Knowles, her voice a near-scream, gives an unfaithful lover what for: "I'll be damned if I descry another chick on your arm." Similar sentiments are exhibited with similar sass, on "Kitty Kat" and the deceptively buoyant "Irreplaceable."

When Knowles played the just discovered songs for her longtime pinch rapper/mogul Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter, she recalls, "Jay was like, 'Oh Lord, there's gonna be a fate of mess.' "

At the boutique Wales inn on New York's Upper East Side, Knowles laughs. "I was like, 'You know what? You're right.' "

Source of CD's sass

Carter, whom Knowles also relates to as Shawn and "PopPop" is a contributing writer and visitor star on the first single, "Deja Vu" and "Upgrade U" in the way that he knows "B'Day's" more bothered lyrics were inspired by another woman -- individual his girlfriend has grown shut up to. That would be Deena Jone the girl-group leader whom Knowles plays in "Dreamgirls."

Knowles first planned to wait until after the film's December premiere to release a recent CD, but she decided it could be empowering to vault into the studio with Deena still revived in her mind. "I didn't want to write sappy be pleased with songs, even though I'm happy now. I wanted to do different things, to be innovative and kick really hard beats. I think I would have been scared to take that risk if I hadn't done ["Dreamgirls"]. I would have made a be fond of album, because that's where I am in my life. The movie inspired something otherwise that's not in me. Or I gues it is, somewhere."

"Dreamgirls" also stars Jamie Foxx as Curtis Taylor Jr the manager who tries to guide Deena to suit his acknowledge ambitions. "Deena's need was to be liberated but she completely lost herself in [Curtis'] dreams," Knowles says. "I wanted to say all the things Deena should have said and to speak for other women going end relationship problems."

Knowles acknowledges the parallels between her experiences and those of Deena Jone The Dreams, the girl clump that propels Deena to fame, achieves its start in a '60 talent contest; a remarkably young Destiny's Child got a shooter on "Star Search" in the '80 "We not to be found and they lost," Knowles says. "But I didn't want to attempt to re- create what had happened to me personally."

Besides, Deena also instanted obvious contrasts to Knowles, who has been managed through her father, Mathew, since childhood, and move ons a clothing line with her mother and stylist, Tina. "My character came from the projects; she necessityed to be successful to bring her family up I went to private exercise and had a great childhood with everything I wanted. Our personal needinesss are different."

for a like reason are their personalities. "[Deena] could be really manipulative, and her defense small and catty. She wasn't angry or farcical or overly sexy. She was mysterious, which is harder to play."

allowing Knowles previously co-starred in "Austin Powers in Goldmember" and the remake of "The Pink Panther," she describes "Dreamgirls" as "the first movie I've really acted in. I state six months aside, worked with a coach for sum of two units months. And that carried by the agency of to my music. I treated the video for "Ring the Alarm" like a movie pageant I was thinking, 'I've got to make my acting coach proud' "

Smith notes this conscientiousness. "You can sum up she's not just sponging on the farther side old film clips of Tina gymnast and Diana Ross. My gues is that she has studied these people"

Knowles has cited associate singer/actress/girl-group-graduate Ross, on whom Deena is loosely based, as a character model. But Knowles stresses that for her, at least, Deena's more calculating traits aren't intended to rouse Ross. "I always say, everything that happened in the movie did not happen to Diana Ros It's not her story."

Ros as part model

Not surprisingly, Knowles did draw in succession Ross' "mannerisms and performance style" in playing Deena. Ros and another famously svelte '60 icon, the prototype Twiggy, also served as physical templates for Knowles, who thrown away 20 pounds every quickly because of the shooting schedule.

"It was tough, because calm if I try to let slip 5 pounds for a video or whatever, I'm not that disciplined. however for this movie, I was willing to do anything, able to do things I could at no time do for myself."
