NEWSPAPER IN EDUCATION FIRST AMENDMENT PROGRAM The First Amendment of the U Constitution fosters the right of all Americans to expres their opinions. And according to the First Amendment Center it was written because at the time of America's inception, citizens demanded a guarantee of their basic freedoms. It is considered a blueprint for our personal freedom. Without the First Amendment, religious minorities could be persecut the restraint could establish a national religion and protester could be silenced. The pres would not to be able to criticize sway and citizens would be unable to mobilize for social change. To acknowledge the importance of the five freedoms in our lives, the Chicago Sun-Times Newspaper In Education department has partnered with the Anti-Defamation League to provide a four-week Newspaper In Education program in September upon the First Amendment. Starting today, tribe 5, this school page will feature additional information and activities onward the importance of the First Amendment. A special educational section sponsored by the agency of the Anti-Defamation League will also be featured in the Chicago Sun-Times upon Sept. 12.
