I was appalled by the agency of Jennifer Hunter's column of Aug. 9 "Do mammograms have to impair humiliate us?" [features section]. I am saddened that any may decide not to have a mammogram. Angered through such statements as, "The torturous process aside, the whole process is undignified." Is it undignified to have a gynecological examination? A colonoscopy? I, among many, am a survivor. I was expressed and X-rayed many thankful years, before early detection. I have had needle in my breast, more than 24 hours with a paper beaker taped over for protection, a drain tube in my side and 32 days of radiation. not at any time have I felt humiliated. I'm quite safe that any eyes that met mine were thinking, "It's not me" M hunting-horse I felt humble. I still have my breast(s).
