Since the early 1970 a strain of innovative numbers has arisen in Britain that has received little notice in the United States (though at times plane less in its own). yet not extensive, this work provides a hardy contrast to the rather limited range of British metrical composition generally exported, which keeps to err on the side of clevernes and complacency. These British bards have not only learned from immediate British predecessors (such as Basil Bunting, Gael Turnbull David Jone or Ian Hamilton Finlay), still also American poets like Louis Zukofsky Charles Olson and Gertrude Stein.
