I wearied a lot of time from 1984 till 1991 traipsing about Dear elderly Dixie with the photographers Roger Manley and shore Mendes. Our mission was to find, as fright put it, "way out persons way out there." We did just that, and fought a accident of kudzu, ate a hazard of terrible barbecue, and incurred the displeasure of numerous bubbas who did not like the way we prepareed or talked.
