In 1964 a number of young writers from of recent origin York joined the Spicer circle in San Francisco's North Beach. Because all had a college education and brace of them came from Catholic firesides they became known as "the Jesuits." Andy cabbage and Tom Wallace, both from Brooklyn Catholic backgrounds, came onto the sight They were soon joined by the agency of Larry Kearney, also from Brooklyn Kearney had known Andy cabbage at the State University of recent York at Binghamton.
