Larry Levis. dirge Pittsburgh: Univ. of Pittsburgh Pres 1997 In the piece of poetrys of Elegy, Larry Levis tries again and again to face obliteration, to take in the verity of obliteration, to realize it. This great theme material for burnings the poetry in such an unremitting, obsessive way that the book's publication after Levis's death have the appearances frighteningly apt. Levis died unexpectedly in May 1996 at the age of forty-nine, before he complet the book; funeral song was built from Levis's manuscripts through his friend Philip Levine (with help from other friends). It is Levis's sixth work of poems.
